A bollard can tell you the country

Poles, road lines, licence plates, the car that carried the camera. Every region has its own version of these things, and they are few and concrete. They can be learned one at a time: that is a meta.

Every MetaSpotter card is a real Street View photo, a question, four choices or a typed answer, and a short explanation of why. No re-reading guides: the clue sticks and you pull it out mid-round without thinking.

Watching a guide is not learning it

You read a guide, understand everything, and a week later almost nothing is left. It happens to everyone: memory drops what it doesn’t use again. The coral curve is what happens after a video; the lime one, with each review at the right moment.

The method

Review right before you forget

MetaSpotter uses FSRS, the most accurate spaced-repetition algorithm available today, the same one that schedules reviews in Anki. It predicts when you will forget each clue and shows it to you just before; every correct answer pushes the next review further away.
